thanks for any help

Here is a good site that has a lot of good tips and tricks http://www.databasepros.com

Go to Resources and tips. If you look through all the tips you will find one called Delete Duplicates. You don't want to delete them but it will give you an idea on how to find duplicates. They are files that you download.

Hope you find some good ideas here - it is a good site !

Go to define fields, choose/highlight the name field then click on options. You'll see a window with tab sections, click on validation, then click unique to make it active. Do the same for your street address field.

Now if anyone enters duplicate data in either field an alert box will come up indicating that it is a duplicate and asking whether to allow it.

If you go back to the validation window you'll see an option called strict. If strict is active then users will not be given the option to allow overrides.

Hope this helps
