I have a trial version of FM7 and am in a hurry to solve this:

I want to find a record in one file then make a copy of it to another table with matching fields. The point being that I want to moderate values without changing the original or adding records to the original file. A sort of lookup. How?

Platform: Mac OS X Panther

Since we're dabating the need for event-triggers in another thread does this question clearly show that you havn't grasped how to normalize datastructure into the realm of filemakers implementation of relational structures, in this case seems unstored calcfields pulling related values in converted form to be the filemaker'ish way to do it.
