Newbies stacito Posted April 3, 2004 Newbies Posted April 3, 2004 Is it possible to import a table into another file? I'm interested in replicating the structure of multiple tables in one file, and dread the thought of recreating all the fields over and over again. Once I set up the tables, I know I can import all the data -- I'd just love to find a way to import the table structures into one file. Any advice? Thanks. FileMaker Version: 7 Platform: Windows XP
CobaltSky Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Hello stacito, There is no native 'import table' option. However there are a few third-party products that might be of interest to you: FM Robot http://www.nmci.com/Product_Overview.htm?pid=P77YJCFQ66NXQYB0LCXW&-session=dwc:7F14DC321C3C4D243DBADA4E4D97F0D6 FmProMigrator http://www.fmpromigrator.com/downloads/demo_software/index.html#fmpro_migrator_demo Both of these products are worth a look and if you have a lot of tables they may save you a considerable amount of time.
Newbies stacito Posted April 3, 2004 Author Newbies Posted April 3, 2004 Ray, thanks for the response and the links. It is surprising to me that Filemaker wouldn't allow a "library" of sorts for favorite table structures that you could move in and out of different databases. As someone who is only using Filemaker to get my business running more smoothly, I may just have to recreate the tables, as I think the 3rd party software options will prove to be even more time consuming and expensive for an amateur.
