Gabriela Posted June 29, 2001 Posted June 29, 2001 As there was no reply to my last topic, I'll try and make it more straight forward: Does anybody know of a way to define the 'sort' script step other than by first performing the sort and then setting the 'sort' script to restore? Any suggestions very much appreciated. Gabriela
Gogargirl Posted June 29, 2001 Posted June 29, 2001 I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but in my experience, just setting the sort script step to 'restore' doesn't necessarily do the trick. You need to make sure that the desired sort order is current as you are editing the script, and then click the radio button to 'Replace Sort Order' as you exit the script editor.
Chuck Posted June 30, 2001 Posted June 30, 2001 To have a script sort in a particular order you must sort manually, create the script and include the Sort [Restore] option. Chuck
mitchn Posted June 30, 2001 Posted June 30, 2001 You have the right idea, I put it in the wish list many times, however FileMaker decision makers don't see this point. Same thing with the print preview mode. Maybe one day...
Gabriela Posted July 14, 2001 Author Posted July 14, 2001 Thanks for all your replies. The manual sort followed by a restore/replace is clear to me, but it doesn't help when I email the files to my client. Somehow, the sort restore (sometimes, not always) gets lost in the process and my client has to do the manual sort, followed by sort restore/replace again, to make the scripts work. I guess a solution of this problem is hopefully somewhere down the line in a new version of Filemaker.
