Michael Allison Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Is there any guides for the complete novice on connecting a FM table to an MS Access table. I have a projects database that I want Filemaker to populate a MS Access database. I looked at the OpenLink driver but it started to make my head spin. Basically, I want FileMaker to update the Access database whenever there are any changes to the projects database. Even better would be that the user of the Access database could make changes in Access and have those changes appear in the FileMaker database. Please help point me in the right direction. Either Mac or PC direction would be great. We're also hosting our DB on FM Server on a W2K box. Cheers. Michael
kraftyman Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 The information in the FM help file is actually quite good. I've used ODBC with filemaker since v5.0 and the trick for FM7 is to install the ODBC driver, which is NOT installed by default, for some bizarre reason. ( unlike revious versions) I found myself getting stuck because I was using the old driver... Once the ODBC driver is installed, then follw ithe instructions in the FMP help file, and you should be OK. Send me a message if you get stuck.
