value list, secondary field a summary field

No doubt this has ben covered before, i can not find the thread.

I want to create a valuelist of which the second field (not sorted on) is a summary field.

Obviously, this second field can not be indexed and fm says it will not work.

Does anyone have a workaround on this problem.

FileMaker Version: 5

Platform: Mac OS X Jaguar

If you can, change the summary field to use Sum(), Count(), Max... You may need to use these with a self-join relationship to get what you want.

If this doesn't answer the question, can you post an example file?
