M.A Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Hi all, Can anyone tell me where are the host names (or ip addresses) stored when a host's DNS name or ip address is added permanently to the host list (or) How can I get rid of a host name that was added to the host list. Thanks FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Windows XP
Will Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 For FileMaker Pro 5 on my Windows 2000 Professional machine the file is fmhosts.txt in my profile folder. Search your C: drive for it - you can add or remove entries within the file.
M.A Posted April 28, 2004 Author Posted April 28, 2004 Firstly, sorry for getting back so late. Secondly, I scanned my whole drive, but could not find any file by that name or any other text file that would contain the host name.
Will Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Maybe FM 6 stores the hosts information in some other format. But if fmhosts.txt is set to hidden it will not show up in a search. Try looking directly in your profile - for Windows 2000 the file is found here and it may be the same path in XP - C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMEApplication DataFileMakerFileMaker Pro5.0
M.A Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 Yes, fond it. The file was in the Hidden folder, Application Data. Thanks, Will.
