I have a donor table with customer code, name, etc. When I'm entering donations, I start by entering the customer code. However, many people send in checks without sending in our voucher (on which is their code). We need to do a lookup on the name in order to find the code.

I created a pop-up list that included the name field as a second field with the code, and sorted by the name. In FMP 6 and earlier, if you started typing the letters of the name, the cursor would pop down to that name in the list. With FMP 7 that doesn't seem to work. You have to scroll down and look for the name in the list, which is far less efficient.

Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

I have also noticed this in 7, but I also found a technique that only works in 7 that allows you to not show the codes at all but have the names in the popup list and use the names to autoenter the codes in to the proper field.

Can you tell me what that technique is?
