Is it possible to format all my newly created fields to make them larger and to have them all spaced a certain distance without having to adjust each field? I know, it is a novice question, but this novice is on deadlines.

If you drag a rectangle around the fields you want to change with the mouse, they will all become selected at once. If you then point the mouse to the lower right corner of one of them and click-and-drag to re-size it, all of the selected fields will be re-sized at once.

If you position the top and bottom fields in the locations where you want them, then select the whole group and choose the vertical 'distribute space' option from the 'Set Alignment...' dialog (accessible from the 'Arrange' menu in layout mode) then the placement of the fields will automatically be adjusted so that the (vertical) space between them is equal.
