Unrelated fields??

How can you show a field in a layout that comes from another unrelated database. I have a file with 5 tables, 3 of which have relational links to each other and 2 which are stand alone.

When building a layout on one of the related tables I am allowed to add a field from on of the unrelatied stand alone tables. However, in browse mode the field says '<Unrelated Table>'.

Why do they give you the option to add unrelated table fields but not show the data from them. I was under the impression that there had to be a related link to a table before you could view it's data (and add it's fields to your layout).

Any ideas??

You need to have some relation (direct or indirect) between tables to show field data from another table.

I think the Unrelated Table option is there so you can build layouts before having all the relationships in place.
