Can a field be used in 2 lookup ways?

Hello

If I have a field that is already a lookup , can it also be used to trigger another lookup.

Lets say we have a record with the following fields

Fruit, colors, Item number

with a relationship we can trigger the look up of colors when the proper fruit is entered and it puts up the item number.

But is there anyway to be able to ALSO input the item number and get the same fields answered with another lookup.
