Using ODBC to connect to a REMOTE MS Access file?

Featured Replies

Hi! I have an information collection system made with Filemaker 6, and I - today - export and import this information to a remote MS Access database, from which I deliver search functions, etc. in an ASP environment.

I'm a newbie and would like to know if there is any way of updating the MS Access file directly from FM using ODBC? How should I go about making the connection? I have checked the ODBC configuration for MS Access, but they only let me select a local file.

I want to use Filemaker as the frontend, and I only need updating functions (INSERT INTO) for MS Access. As soon as a record has been "transferred" from FM to Access, I delete it in FM.

Anyone know how I can go about? I guess I could migrate the Access DB to SQL and do it that way, but it is something I'd rather do later on, as the DB grows.

Thanks in advance!
