Showing Portal Scrollbar

It seems that in FMP 7 a portal's scrollbar is only visible when the portal's pen pattern isn't transparent. I don't believe this is the case in FMP 6. Is there a way that I can show the portal's scrollbar only without framing the portal?

Try solid, with 0-point line thickness.
