Hosted Database not recognised

I have a database that holds records about what desktop printers a user is logged into. This database and a few others are hosted by a FileMaker Pro 5.5 Server running on MacOS X.

I have to import periodically new reports into this Desktop Printer database

It appears as though it has something to do with the launch database being located on a Appleshare IP 6.3 shared volume with windows (SMB) sharing enabled. As I copied the launch DB onto another machine and it works fine then I copied it to the other partition on the original machine that is not shared and it also works fine.
