Can not print what I see with dot matrix

I cannot get the printout of my layouts as I see on the screen with a dot matrix EPSON LX 300 +.

The printout becomes much more bigger than its specified and shown sizes, charecters and tables... everything.

Sorry but I don't know what to do.

I need to print my invoices.

Up to now on I have used Laser and all were successful.

But laser gets the papers one buy one. I have more than 20 copies to print. It takes too much time... thanks in advance.

With winword I have tested. It works. Charecters and sizes are true. But with File maker 5.0 it is not true.

I just ran into the same problem even with filemaker 5.5 dev. Upgraded driver from epson, tried on w98 and w2k server. Always the same symptom.

I think the best will be exchanging the printer

The way to deal with dot matrix printers is to just tweak the layouts until they print right. It is true that FileMaker is not at all WYSIWYG when it comes to dot matrix, but once you've got your layout correct, your settings will stick just fine. It's unfortunate, but you've just got to live with it. Also, I think you'll find that this is true with ALL dot-matrix printers...

Thank you so much for your input, nonetheless I can assure that this has to do with LX-300 +, I have the same system running with another printer and it runs smooth. Also I brought the printer to my home and tested in A WXP and experienced the same problem

For you to have an idea, when I have to set up a form (example: an invoice) for my system I roughly place the fields in the layout, print a page, and then with a ruler I Just go on Size window and put all fields into place. Because using a ruler I just know exactly what shall I type in the size box under layout mode.

The odd thing that happened was that in 3 printouts from the same layout with no changes at all I got 3 different sizes in printout for the same fields. The locations of the fields would not comply with the measures that show up on window size, nor the font size (usually bigger)

I event typed in a text 132 lines long where I had at 1st line '1', second line

for some days have never been able to connect to internet to check the replies. But I have tested every way I can imagine.

But No way to solve the problem other than to change the size of the tables and the fonts to get the correct output with that

printer. But now it works .

I see the two third of the real size of my invoices on the computer and I need to use 6 pts instead of 12 pts.

It prints full A4 and 12 pts... any way no problem I can manage with that problem untill the end of my life...

no need to change file maker with any other makers...

I can forgive that fault with the expectation in the future to be able to see the real shape of

my invoices on the screen...
