Newbies Gekko Posted June 16, 2004 Newbies Posted June 16, 2004 Hello everyone - I'm working on importing a very large XML file into a FM p6 document. The problem is I don't have an xslt file and the fields change thorughout the XML file. although astehtics is not important. This is my first project working with xml, so I'm not quite sure as to what else to do. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Newbies Mitch Gorsha Posted October 12, 2004 Newbies Posted October 12, 2004 The ones in the examples / xml examples are a good place to start. I'm just finishing my first import project like this, large XML file(s), not very nice formatting, etc. I have a couple of xslt's and some sed scripts that I put together if you would like to look at those. QuinTech Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Hi, Gekko. XML is pretty easy to get the hang of. As Mitch says, the example files on the Developer CD are a good start. Also, there is excellent documentation at w3c.org, and as far as FileMaker goes, i think it was this post that helped me get started. Finally, try a user name search on these forums for Garry Claridge. He's made quite a few posts on XSLT and knows his stuff. I'm sure you can pick up a lot from reading his answers to other people's questions. (Not meaning to offend anyone out there who may know more about XSLT -- his name just sticks in my mind.) Jerry
