Version 4.1v3 Status area Layout List.

I work on several PC's all with FMP version 4.1v3. While in Layout mode With that Status area displayed the top button will list all the layouts I am using.

Problem on some of the PC's the Layout list is in a column and on the other Pc's the list of layouts is accross the screen.

Question: How do I change the setup option so that I see the layout list in a column as I have so many layouts that when they are displayed across the screen I can't see the layout name of the layout I want to select.

So what is normal? column or across the screen?

Most of the OS I use are WIN98?

Yes the scroll on my mouse is not working on some of the PC's I use.

So where is this START scroll option.

It has nothing to do with your mouse.

"Scroll Menu" is a property of the start menu in your operating system. When you click start > programs to open a program on these problem computers, do you have one long menu with arrows at the top and bottom or does it move across the window to the right?

If it spans across the window, try chaging the menu property to "scroll menu", by right-clicking over the start button and selecting properties. I can't remember exactly where in properties the selection is in Win 98, but should be pretty easy to find. Customize > Advanced, maybe?

My thought was that the layout menu in FM may be tied to the menu properties of the operating system.

Just for info, I too have this happen to me. We are using Filemaker Server 5.5 and the clients are all using a mix of v5.0, v5.5 and v6.0. I am using v6.0 dev and v7.0 dev.

It is not related to the version of Filemaker you are using. It seems to only affect OS's. Here are my findings:

Windows Server 2003 - Layouts are in a single, scrolling column,

Windows Server 2000 - Layouts are in a single, scrolling column,

Windows XP Pro - Layouts are in a single, scrolling column,

Windows XP Home - Layouts are in a single, scrolling column,

Windows 2000 Pro - Layouts are in a single, scrolling column,

Windows NT 4.0 - Layouts are spanned across the screen.

I can only presume about Win 9x but my guess is that it performs in the same way as NT.

I personally prefer mine across the screen as with NT.
