Printing FIRST record when printing browsed set

Hello,

My client has a strange problem with printing on a MAC with FileMaker 5!

I tried to print a set of records (Found set) using a report which is simply an A4 letter with their name and address filled in. Simple

Go to PRINT, select RECORDS BEING BROWSED - it only prints the first record in the found set - it's not even the viewed record within the set but the FIRST.

It seems the only way I can print is by doing CURRENT record and flicking through and individually printing.

This is not a printer setup issue - I've checked all that and it should be able to print as many pages as it likes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The setting as to whether to print only the current record, or the found set (starting with the 1st record) is in the Print dialog; and it is platform-specific. The fact that you're on XP and the client is on Mac could be why this is happening (I usually have the opposite problem). Printing the found set is the default, so he'll need to change that.

It's best to have only 1 script for "Print 1 Record," which is called by any other scripts which need it (if any). All he has to do is to run such a script (with the Print step, leave dialog on). Then, in the dialog, choose "Current record" (radio button). After it prints (actually you can Cancel the print at this point), when you close the script it will ask if you want to Replace the Page Setup. Yes you do.

In OS X, the option to print the current record is a bit hidden in the Print dialog (ah, progress). You have to drop down to FileMaker, in the Copies & Pages drop down.

The 1 Print step can remember both Windows and Mac settings (especially if you do the Windows 1st). Once you set it it will remember. In version 7 you can set all this right in FileMaker (finally :o-)
