DonH Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 This should be soooo easy and of course it is not. Must be something simple I am missing. I have a FIND form where users can enter partial names and all possible matches come up. Then they click on the one they want. BUT now I want to EXPORT just that record. However, the FIND still says there are X number of found records. So when I do an EXPORT it happily sends off ALL the records. How do I get the FIND or EXPORT to just take the 1 record I selected?
Ender Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Add these script steps to get the found set down to the current record: Show All Records Omit Record Show Omitted
RalphL Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 This could also produce extra records in a multi-user setup. The best bet is to go to the related record (show) with a self-join based on record id or serial number.
DonH Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 I was trying the self-join and it didn't work. So when you said that is the way to go, I looked at it again and sure enuff. DOH I had it go to the layout, enter find mode, copy the INDEX, paste the index, then do the find. Moved the copy to before entering find mode and it works great. Just as a note, FM3 doesn't have SHOW ALL RECORDS or SHOW OMITTED.
Ender Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 How about updating your profile to reflect your FMP version and OS.
Vaughan Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 FMP 3 definately has something similar... Look for "Find all records" and "find omitted" in the Records menu in Browse mode.
RalphL Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Self join is a relationship from a table to itself. You use the go to related record (show only related) script step. You don't have to enter the find mode.
