obesefeline Posted December 3, 2001 Posted December 3, 2001 Hi experts - how do I change the text in a text field once I've assigned a button function to the field? The normal double-clicking always brings up the script choices such as go to related record, etc. Certainly you don't have to delete and recreate the field to change the label. The same situation occurs whether I'm using my own field or using one of the FMP-supplied button icons. Help.
dbhill Posted December 3, 2001 Posted December 3, 2001 You can change the text in that field with a button assigned by going to another layout with that field and no button assigned and change the text there. If you have no other layout that has that field, then just duplicate the layout and disconnect the button link. ~Dennis
Vaughan Posted December 3, 2001 Posted December 3, 2001 If you mean "change the text formatting of a field defined as a button"... click once on the field, then choose Text Format from the Format menu. Alternatively, right-click (Win) or Control-Click (Mac) ont he field and choose Text Format from the menu.
obesefeline Posted December 3, 2001 Author Posted December 3, 2001 Dennis, thanks. What I wound up doing was ungroup the text and icon, deleting the button functionality in the process - then after changing the text (label), I regrouped and reapplied the button script. Seems cumbersome but it works. Doug
Thom Posted December 3, 2001 Posted December 3, 2001 To edit the label of a button (without ungrouping it), first click on the text tool (the button with an `A' on it), then click on the label.
