JoanieAKBoat Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Hi guys. I'm back with a problem. I'm still using FMP 6. Can't find a thing on it in the Knowledge Base. Hope you can help me. Since upgrading to OSX on the Macs in our office, and having had trouble with the networked printers we've tried, we now have dedicated USB-connected printers to each of the computers. Hewlett Packards. That may or may not be the problem. Or, it could be my print scripts - they are down to the simplest they can be: allow user abort (off) page setup (Restore, no dialog) Print (no dialog) go to Layout (original) enter Browse Mode (and print set to current record or records being browsed.... ) What has been happening is while running the printscript Filemaker often freezes. It prints, but even though the curser moves you may see the hand a 1/2 inch away from a normally functioning button, and nothing happens.... and in the end they must reboot the app. It's intermittent, doesn't always happen. When I test it, it works fine ..... so its a gremlin of sorts. I'm wondering if I should be using one of the "currrent status" scripts or something. I've never really used those and perhaps I'm missing something altogether. And I don't get an option for background printing. The boss is frustrated with it... any help? thanks Joanie Do any of you Mac users have anything to share about what printers you are using?
Vaughan Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Display the print dialog and see what it's really doing in there.
JoanieAKBoat Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 Print dialog displayed. All is as it should be. I'm trying to ascertain if it is my print script that is causing problems in delay and freeze, or if its the printer software. Incidently, he has recently purchased a new Epson printer, and says its still happening. The fact that its an intermittent problem, and one that is difficult to reenact, makes me think its the printer. Any ideas at all would be helpful.... thanks Joanie
