TCP/IP network initialization failed - FMS 5.5v4

I just installed OS X Security Update 2004-06-07 v1.0 for OS X 10.3.4 and now when I start FM Server 5.5v4, the events log shows "TCP/IP network initialization failed; the TCP/IP address is already in use or an address could not be obtained." and the FM Server software just waits. All other network apps work, Safari, Timbuktu, etc. During the maintanance downtime, I changed the IP address, but I'm sure there's no other system using the same IP address. The preferences pane of Server Config shows the default IP address correctly. Any ideas what's happening? More importantly, any fix? Thanks.

Welcome ffar,

Try reinstalling FM Server.

I have Server 5.5v4 running on 10.3.4 with no problems (though I don't think I've installed that security patch yet.) Let us know if reinstalling fixes it.

Reinstalling does NOT fix the problem. I get the same error message. Any other ideas? My only other idea is to reinstall OS X from the ground up, an ugly process!

I did a clean reinstall of OS X, then FMS and all seems to work fine now. I am reluctant, however, to update OSX from 10.3.2 to 10.3.4 with the comined update, since it probably contains the Security Update 2004-6-7. Has anyone applied that update to OSX w/ FMS 5.5v4 and had everything work? I hate to be behind on my maintenance, but and leery of updating due to past problem. Any info is appreciated.
