December 4, 200124 yr a way of disabling a portal? And when you uncheck the checkmark the portal becomes enabled again? Is there such a method? Or will Filemaker thwart my attempts again! Or give me a workaround Thanxs Steve Griff
December 4, 200124 yr You could create another duplicate layout where the portal appears however you want it to appear, disabled or otherwise. Clicking on the "checkbox" would trigger a script that sets the checkbox on or off and goes to the layout of choice.
December 5, 200124 yr Author Good idea That sounds ok, but it's funny that you have to do things the wrong way round all the time. Thanxs Steve "Going to montana soon to be a dental floss tycoon"

Do you mean (a) hide it, ( prevent entry into fields, © prevent modification of data? The likely answer is yes for at least some of these scenarios. As for your continually being "thwarted", you might want to think about joining the FileMaker Solutions Alliance where you can get isues of this type addressed by senior members of the development community. December 5, 200124 yr Author Hi there Well the closest meaning to disabling the portal is by creating a shadow above the portal not allowing data entry. I know you cannot do this with Filemaker, so the next best thing would be to hide the portal, by using the alterning layouts trick. Basically I would like the most elegant way of doing such a thing. Thanxs for taking an interest on what I'm looking for anyhow Steve Griff
