Quick question?

Is their a setting in Filemaker Server which will startup and shutdown the Filemaker Server through the course of the day. The problem is when the Windows server starts it's daily back up it will not backup any of the databases due to Filemaker Server is running.

What to do? :confused:

Hi, Erik. FM Server will automatically host any files in the same directory as the application and one subdirectory below it. That means that if you use a Windows backup to back up those files, you will have corruption problems with the backups.

Set your Windows backup to exclude those directories or whatever directories contain hosted files, and instead use FM Server's Task Scheduler to back up Filemaker Pro files to a completely different directory, one that is not in the Filemaker Server 5.5 folder. That should solve your problem, i think.
