Due to Hurricane Charley we are canceling the August meeting.

To all our FMPug subscribers who may have been affected by the hurricane, we hope you weathered the storm with little or no damage.

Everything that was planned for August will now be rolled forward to the September meeting.

So, what's in store for September?

Last month our Central Florida FMPug members participated in a poll of what areas of FileMaker are the most interesting. The results are now in: Topping the scale with an average of 4.5 out of 5 is scripting.

Based on those scores, the September meeting topic will focus on scripting in FileMaker Pro 7. I believe it goes without saying that this is an extremely broad topic, so we're going to pare it down and focus on several more select sections of scripting. Namely....

The changes

We will begin by looking at how certain script aspects have changed in version 7, including Find, Sort & Print.

The additions

There are many new script steps in FileMaker Pro 7, one of the biggest advances being Window controls. During our meeting, you can learn what they are and more importantly, what they can do for you.

Script Parameters & Beyond

We'll begin this area of discussion with the 'what and how' of script parameters, just to give everyone a concise overview. From here, we will discuss the importance of layout and table awareness in FileMaker Pro 7 and how your scripts can be used more dynamically.

As an added bonus, we hope to bring Curtis of SmallCo ( http://www.smallco.net ) back to talk about Custom Functions.

Now, if you didn't make it to last month's Central Florida meeting, we would still love to know where you stand, you can visit the FMPug website and take the poll online ( http://www.fmpug.com/polls/feedback.html). Let us know what aspects of FileMaker make you tick!

Stepping outside the Pug...again!

In September, one lucky attendee will walk away with a copy of Total Training's ( http://www.totaltraining.com ) Adobe Illustrator CS, a 5 DVD, 12+ hour learning experience.

(Take a moment to read all about it!)

Total Training for Adobe Illustrator CS. This 5-DVD series, led by well-known author and leading Adobe graphics software expert Deke McClelland, is chock-full of the most instructive and visual training available. Plus, you'll get an extra CD with project files, so you can follow along in Illustrator CS on your computer, as Deke shows you its depth of features and the techniques for using them.

In Total Training for Adobe Illustrator CS, you'll enjoy over 12 hours of comprehensive training to take you from basic drawing techniques, to enhanced functionality such as 3D imaging, all the way through file export and publishing. Programs include: 1) Drawing Fundamentals; 2) Pathfinders & the New World of Text; 3) Envelope, Transparency, & Live Effects; and 4) 3D, Export, & Publishing.

And with Deke's thorough and entertaining presentation approach, you'll get valuable instruction you won't soon forget.

For all the other little goodies we may have up our sleeve, you'll just have to drop what your doing and come see us Thursday September 23rd between 6-7pm

And if you are in the vicinity of one of our other FMPugs, drop them a line.

Thanks for everyone's support!
