file size over network - problems?

I am developing a filemaker solution to be shared over 10-15 users using FileMaker Server.

There'll be about 20-25 files in that solution.

One of the files is storing low-res images, no more than 40k each in size, and all in gif and jpg format.

There's about 200 in there and already the file size has shot up to 18MB.

Between 15 users, with another 25 files, over 10/100 network, using filemaker server, what's the recommended maximum file size?

FileMaker quote a theoretical maximum size of 2GB (i think it's something like that) - though obviously that would be a nightmare using the network situation above.

What max filesize am I looking at before I start getting poor network performance (slow load times etc) of my database?
