tv_kid Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Can anyone offer advice? I have for some time (about two years) been using FM Server 5.5 on a G4 Server machine that is also acting as a File Server. After reading the posts I'm beginning to realise that this may not have been such a good idea(!). I will rectify this problem soon, cost permitting. (As an aside, can anyone tell me the difference between a 'standard' server and a rack mounted XServe?) My problem is that now I have corrupt files that I can't open, despite recovering them about 10 times. I also cannot restart FM Server without it freezing. The events log records that it gets to a certain point and then stops. I have to force quit and restart the machine. Any suggestions? Thanks Matt
tv_kid Posted August 27, 2004 Author Posted August 27, 2004 Yes, I've done that. I have gone back to the backups and restored, we didn't lose too much. Does anyone have advice on a Mac to use as a base for FMServer? I understand (from reading other posts) that it doesn't need to be a Server machine or have Server software. Can I just use any machine then? I have an old G3 Tower with OS9 on it. Can I use this? Cheers Matt
