Newbies Laurie Figary Posted August 30, 2004 Newbies Posted August 30, 2004 My company is about to switch from FileMaker Pro 6 to 7. I have huge databases with over 6000 records with images in them and really worry how these are going to translate. Any bad experiences and good tips please?
littleitaly5588 Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Laurie, I have a file with several drawings and they came over easily from 6.0 to 7.0. I'm guessing this is a relational database. If you convert all the files at the same time, you shouldn't have any trouble. The problems seems to arise when you use the new 7.0 feature of turning your relational files to tables and trying to enter layouts, scripts, fields, records, etc. to the primary file. I haven't had any trouble with the drawings even with importing the records into a table. I recently purchased FMRobot and MetadataMagic from New Millennium to help with this. I recommend them. We are all in a learning mode at this time. I'm out here on the forum to get some good ideas. Hope it works out for you. Adele
