halbj Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 I am still finding my feet with FM7 - and probably will be for a while. I have a database with an account that has 'Full Access'. When I open the file locally, I am able to import data from a text file. When I host the file using FM Server, and log in using the account that has 'Full Access', the 'import records' menu option is greyed out. Why is that?? Cheers Halbj
Reed Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 This setup works for me.... I use it every day to sync account information from our departmental SQL Server DB. The file is hosted on a mac (10.3.5) The client is windows xp.
halbj Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 I am hosting from FileMaker Server and connecting from Mac 10.3.5. I am unable to create new records, get into scriptmaker or import records, despite authenticating with a user that has full access.... Surely I am missing something obvious here?... Cheers
Ender Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Hi Hal, It may be a permissions problem with the files on the server. I had a locked file problem like this when I first started playing with hosting files on Server 7. Resetting the files' permissions fixed the problems.
halbj Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Thanks Ender - that was the problem. I had to set 'Others' to 'Read & Write'. I apopreciate your help. Thanks again Cheers Hal.
