September 5, 200421 yr I working on a project that will be distributed to a group of non-profits (stand alone/run time verisons--they will not have the full verison of FM). I have no way to know what printers they might have now or in the future. Any recommendations for how to avoid printing problems? How do I configure scripts that involve page setup? Thanks, RD
September 5, 200421 yr Use at least 0.5 inch margins on all sides. I setup a set of 4 printing scripts to cover this: Print Selected Portrait, Print Current Portrait, Print Selected Landscape & Print Current Landscape. These use the any printer option.
September 6, 200421 yr Author > use the any printer option : What is this "any printer" option? I don't find any such setting anywhere in FM7 Dev/Windows. The only options in either File/Print Setup or in any related script steps (Print Setup or Print) are the installed printer and (since I have Acrobat installed) pdf. (I do find "any printer" in FM help--but it's specifically listed only in a screen sub-titled, "Mac OS"--so I'm guessing that it's Mac-specific.
September 6, 200421 yr The "Any Printer" option is a Mac OS X thing. From what I have seen it is the equivilent of a "generic" printer, with only the lowest-common-denominator features. It also sets minimum margins that will work on all printer type including inkjet and laster printers.
September 6, 200421 yr You might find this useful. http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat...5/o/all/fpart/1 "Use at least 0.5 inch margins on all sides." For lots of inkets and bubblejets, you need at least 1.0 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4cm in real money) bottom margins.
