I am having a problem getting checkboxes to work. I have a value list ready to go, I pick checkboxes as an option, but no checkboxes come out. Only the list is showed but no box to click.

In layout mode check the line width and line color for the field with the checkboxes. You need a line width of at least 1 pixel and a color that is different from background and not invisible.
