fm7 contacts sample question

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could explain how something works in the ContactsManagement Fm7 sample.

When you do a find on a contact, a list view will appear and display all your matches.

You then can click on one of the items in the list view and it will take you to the form view.

What makes it do this? How does it know to go to that view? I have tried to somehow select a part of the listview in teh layout mode to determine what is special about it.

thanks for your tips in advance,

sincerely,

J__

The whole row is a button or covered by a transparent button. It takes you to a related record using the TO "Simillars" and switchs to the form layout.

Hi Ralph,

thanks for the response. I thought it was a button and I actually tried to select something, but all I ever got was fields.

I just looked at again (mumbling to myself "what button?")... and managed to find it. I colored it and made it a little diffent sized and now can see the script attached too. Ah-Ha!

Is it a button or some other object behaving like a button? Probably the latter, but how do you know what it is? I wish filemaker provided a way to click on an object on the form and display what it is in the status bar or something.

thanks for the help.

sincerely,

J__
