Buenos Diaz...

Trying to troubleshoot a problem with ODBC, primarily for Dev 5.5/6.

Having been around FM for a few years, I know I have seen the FM Driver set up within the ODBC Control Panel in the past, but for some reason it wasn't there. I then went into the registry to see if I can hack the settings, and it seemed to show the driver finally, but it said there was something wrong with "set-up" routines for the FM driver.

Then I proceeded to do a clean reinstall, and the f-ing thing still won't work.

I've looked throughout the fm forums for an answer, but found nothing remotely related to exactly how to manually install the driver. Even forced myself to visit the cafe, and nothing there either! confused.gif

Anyone have a clue?

I noticed that I too no longer had the FM ODBC driver for 5.5 (I am running both Dev 5.5 and Dev 7). The only change that I have made that I know could effect it was upgrading MDAC. After uninstalling and reinstalling 5.5, the driver showed back up. So, this leads to a few questions for you.

Have you upgraded MDAC?

Have you installed SP2? This could possibly be the cause as there are some compatibility issues with SP2. Looking here may be of some help.

What steps are you taking to add and configure the driver? I assume you are using start>control panel>administrative tools>data sources then selecting the add button. When you select the add button, the driver does not show in the list of available drivers? Do you have administrator rights on the local machine?

I haven't checked to see if installing the ODBC driver for v7 has any effect, but I will try it and let you know.

Good Luck,

Steve
