Windows and Macintosh Pictures compatibility

Featured Replies

Hi-

I created a huge db in FM7PRO on a Mac OSX 10.3.5 and I inserted many pics (three containers per record, over 200 records).

Unaware of this, I didn't make the pics format "compatible" -whatever that was- with both platforms (Win and Mac). So now I found that some users work on PC and of course I want to make the db compatible on both platforms.

When users open the db on a Mac, it works fine but when on a windows PC, all pics (actually most of them) on the containers show text saying something like "a QuickTime application and TIFF decompressor is needed to view this picture". Some very few pics work.

Now, I suppose I should have used JPG pics or something, but I just took advantage of drag-and-drop and dragged pics directly from a web site to the FM container. I seemed fine at the time.

My questinos are:

1) Is there any component I might install in the Win PC to make my current file viewable? (I already intalled QuickTime, but didn't work... yes I restarted...)

2) Is there any way to automate the conversion of whatever pic format I have on the Mac to make it Win compatible without taking all the pics one by one?

Thank you!

PD. Is there an "advanced" video tutorial I can purchase to get me up to speed with all you FileMaker gurus? I already have the "Learn FM7" fro Lynda.com, Now I need something more advanced.
