Keith LaMarre Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Is anyone else frustrated with FileMaker 7's inability to distinguish word breaks? I use a lot of "text based" layouts (for invoices, etc) that have some text that now is breaking within words so that part of a word is on a second line. I don't recall this ever happening in Version 6. My layouts are designed for both Windows and Mac so it is difficult (if not impossible) to format each layout with hard breaks.
The Shadow Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Check under "File" -> "File Options" -> "Text" tab that "Use Roman language line-breaking" is checked. This was a bug in conversion that was fixed in FM7v3, if you converted with an earlier version it wasn't ever checked.
BrentHedden Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 I'll make sure that I keep this in mind, because I use a lot of text-based layouts too. I've always considered FileMaker as a database program, and certainly NOT a word processor. Funky things happen when using full justification on a paragraph. The number of words on a line changes with each zoom level, and then when you print it, some other number usually shows up. I don't know if this has been fixed with version 7, but I would certainly keep an eye out for it.
