Hi, does anyone know how to disable the Windows menu without using Kiosk mode or having it in a continual pause? I want to be able to fully control how and when users switch files. I would also like to know if you can disable or clear the Open Recent option under the file menu. The reason I don't want to use Kiosk because I want to be able to use other windows functions, like switching programs, etc.

The main problem is that each file in my solution does a re-login when it opens and takes the current username & password from the controlling login file. This works, but if a lower level user logs in on a machine a higher level user was using then they can access any of the files the higher level user opened by using the Windows menu. This means they don't run the re-login script for that file and get access at a higher level than they should.

I appologies if this is in the wrong place or has been posted before, but I'd be greatful of any assistance

You can use a plugin like Dacons menucontrol or new millenium secureFM with menuMagic. These let you replace any and all filemaker menus with menus that trigger your own scripts.

Although you should still consider a security strategy that doesn't leave files logged in with privileges that are undesired. This may just be asking for trouble....

Thanks for your help guys. I probably should re-design the security structure but i need a quick fix right now. The plug-in looks good. smile.gif

Thanks again
