I am a new FM user and I would like to know how to make a copy of the database and make sure that I am not changing information on the old database. I believe I have to update links. Can anyone help me? Also, how do you add fields to the database? Thanks!

Hi, HCNS. This part of the forum is reserved for questions about FM Forums itself, and not general Filemaker questions (as detailed in the description: "Feedback regarding this site. Please DO NOT post FileMaker questions here.").

To answer your questions: (1) To make a copy of your database, select Save A Copy As from the File menu. (2) To add fields, use the Define Fields option from the File menu.

Do you have a copy of the FileMaker manual? I would suggest you spend some time looking through that.
