How do I override a calculation field

Featured Replies

Hi - I am a doctor trying to create a DB for skin cancer patients. We decide patients' follow up based firstly upon the thickness of the tumour. I have created a calculation field for follow up (calculated follow up), which does this based upon a free text entry for tumour thickness. BUT sometimes we need to override this schedule depending on other variables. I want to be able to choose from a predefined value list (follow up override) to override the value created by the calculation field (calculated follow up).

In layout I have tried placing the value list underneath the calculation field (deselecting "allow entry into field" in the calculation field). This does enable me to enter the value list - but I either get the value for the calculation field OR the value for the calculation field and the value field (both visible through each other), depending on whether I make the calculation field opaque or transparent.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Garth

The problem is that it shouldn't be a calc'field but instead an autoenter calc' ...and here comes the rather new option to lift the checkmark from

"do not replace existing value of field (if any)"

...handy.

This means that both a calc'field and a popup could be attached to the field. I've made a template for you!!! Since I use dynamic valuelist for the pop, could further explanation be required ...so please don't hessitate to ask further:
