exporting container fields

Dear All,

I am kind of having a big problem. a clients database has a massive amount of imbedded images within the container. is there any way to export this images and save them somewhere on the harddrive? absolute brilliant would be if I could invluence the name the images will have.

from what I have heard so far it seems impossible but maybe you know.
