Corey Ballantoni Posted July 26, 2000 Posted July 26, 2000 When I try to size a field with the object size box I can never get exactly the number I need. For example: I want the box to be exactly .220 inches but the thing always rounds it to .222. No matter what number I enter it rounds it to something that is close. Can I have an exact number such as .220? Please Help.
richshone Posted July 27, 2000 Posted July 27, 2000 if you go to the layout mode and pull down the arrange window in the menu bar you will see auto grid. Make sure there is no check mark in front of it and you should have the problem solved, though that feature also allows the fields to move around VERY freely and may not be the best way to arrange your layouts. I can't remember where it is but I do recall seeing a set auto grid feature somewhere, which would allow you to set the minimum number of cm/inches or pixels that fields can move. This may help you too if you can find it.
ryan93 Posted August 7, 2000 Posted August 7, 2000 You can set different CM, Inches, and Pixels. I like to arrange all my sizes in the pixels mode. Everything changes to the number you specify. Click view ->Object Size. On the little window that appears click on the Inches, CM, or Pixels on the right and it will change.
Vaughan Posted August 23, 2000 Posted August 23, 2000 FileMaker Ppro uses an internal measurement system that is then converted to inches, cm and pixels. Two thousandths of an inch error is close enough tolerance for jet engines, so it should be fine for layouts. Learn to live with it.
