Newbies Mike Brower Posted November 29, 2004 Newbies Posted November 29, 2004 My boss' Filemaker pgm is running on an osX server. I use a windows client but want to use my linux box (kernel 2.6.8, Mandrake 10.1) instead. Need info on linux client for filemaker. All advice is welcome.
RalphL Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Sorry, there isn't a linux client for FileMaker. There was a server version.
Reed Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 To access FM data via linux, you have a couple of options. 1. ODBC 2. JDBC 3. Web publishing
Newbies Mike Brower Posted November 30, 2004 Author Newbies Posted November 30, 2004 So you have to be a programmer?
Reed Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 To use ODBC or JDBC, you at least need to know some SQL, along with some other kind of language or application that can take the data returned by the query and display it in some way. With web publishing, there are several options... the non-programmer option is instant web publishing. I'm not so sure about FMP v5, But I know that with v7, IWP works quite well with the Mozilla-based browsers as of the 7.0v3 patch to Filemaker.
