Armand Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 WHY WHY WHY? Have I done EVERYTHING mentioned in these threads and I'm still having problems accessing the publishing engine. I either get "username and password is incorrect" or after I TRY to restart the publishing engine I get "UNknown Error". This happened before and AFTER I did the following steps. 1. UNINSTALL All Server 7 & Server 7 Advanced 2. Download and install IIS 6 Resourc Kit Tools from Microsoft 3. REINSTALL Server 7 & Server 7 Adv. 4. RESTART 5. Configure Server 7 & ENABLE Web Publishing Engine Client Services Identifier and Passcode 6. Login to Web Pub. Admin console (http://localhost/fmi/config) 7. Enter INDENTIFIER and PASSCODE into username and password fields. I STILL GET "USERNAME & PASSWORD INVALID". If I Cancel Web Publishing configuration I get "UNEXPECTED ERROR." I've restarted these services many times and STILL get these errors. WHAT AM I MISSING? Please help.
Armand Posted December 2, 2004 Author Posted December 2, 2004 OK, so I read some threads in another section and CAN'T BELIEVE what you "need to know" to get this "INSTANT" Web Pub to work. APPARENTLY you have to set the Identifier and Passcode equal to a username and password with admin access on the OS. I ALSO read that turning off (unchecking) something in IIS works. I did both, and was able to get a little further. I can now log in to the Pub Eng. Administrator, AND I was able to get to the file page through my internet browser(s), BUT when I click on one of the files I get "UNKNOWN ERROR 802". AGAIN, I'm LOST. Please help.
AnFrusch@pepp Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Hello, I think that simply uninstall the WPE is not enough.. some directories remains in your server (Mac OS X). after unistalling the WPE I delete the FileMaker directory (if your Fm server and your Fm WPE are installed on the same machine just delete the directories related to WPE!). This is the best way to clean up your computer and re-install the WPE. the passcode must be the same of the one you set up in Filemaker server admin consolle, but it can be different from your login values. regardin the authentication issues.. maybe the web management and the WPE user id and pwd (which is not the passcode) should be the same - I never tried to set differrent values - and then the 'advanced' must work.. try to restart the machine and/or the web server (IIS I suppose) and WPE. Bye (I'm afraid my english is not so good .. isn'it?)
