Find does not work

Featured Replies

We have recently converted to Filemaker 7. We are running Filemaker Server 7 on OS 10.3.6 which is hosting all our databases.

When performing a find in a field that is a calculation which references a related file the find does not work. I can see the data and sort on it - but not find it.

I have tried removing the file from the server and opening it locally, in which case the find works! Even when the related file is still open via the server.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I've been pulling my hair out on this for two days.

Hasn't anyone else had this problem? I've checked and triple checked everything and can't get a find to work on a calculation field that references a related file. It works fine locally but as soon as I put the files up on the server it breaks.

Help anyone.

Okay, Found the problem and I'll post it in case someone needs an answer.

The file I was referencing in my calculation was in a folder inside the Databases folder of FMS7 and I wasn't specifying the proper path to that file. It's strange because all the calculations worked properly but I just couldn't perform a search on the calculations.
