December 4, 200421 yr I have worked with the HELP and Admin Guide for FM 7 Server and cannot get the FM Server to register with my OD running on OSX. Anybody had success at this willing to lend a hand? I have made matching entries in Server config and client 'List by LDAP'-"Specify" dialog dc=%subdomain%,dc=%mydomain%,dc=fmp7 (where %subdomain% & %mydomain% are the actual names), however the server never shows up on the client when selecting List by LDAP--no problem with showing up under Local Hosts.
January 20, 200520 yr Author I was able to solve my own problem, I fussed with OSX Server. Create the LDAP groups and add users to groups in OSX Server, then in FM7 just use External authentication and type in the name of the group...voila!
June 19, 200520 yr Newbies HIP HIP HURRAY It works now for me too! i did it like this: Distinguished name: uid=root,cn=users,dc=domain,dc=com Make a group: test in LDAP Stuff a user in. Open a file on FM server, go to Accounts&Privileges push 'new' select that account is Authenticated through an external server punch in the groups name (in my case: test) and its privileges login the file with the user that was in the group test voila!
June 20, 200520 yr Newbies Hi, I'm a newbie at FM Server and really stuck with LDAP on Tiger. Could you tell me your detail situation when you succeded? - How is your Event.log? - Can you trace LDAP log at Mac OS X? - I cannot even edit type and values on Preferences/LDAP Directory Service/Search base dialog. Is this normal??
