Newbies adrienne_nc Posted December 7, 2004 Newbies Posted December 7, 2004 I have a script that loops through a portal to set a field in the parent table with the related fields in a format for printing that cannot be achieved by just printing the portal. When I run the script on a Mac, it takes 32 seconds, which isn't great but passable. When I run the script on a PC, it takes more than 3 minutes. My client is in a PC environment (medical center) and switching to Macintosh isn't an option. Does anyone have an idea why there is such a discrepancy between the PC and Mac and what can be done to resolve the issue? All of the other scripts seem to run equally well on both PC and Mac. Thanks for any advice.
Chuck Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I don't know what the speed issue may be, but perhaps you should print from a layout that is linked to the portal table rather than to the parent table. Your relationship in FM7 will work both ways, so you can access the information in the parent record, but will have more printing flexibility when printing from the child table.
Newbies adrienne_nc Posted December 9, 2004 Author Newbies Posted December 9, 2004 Thanks. I wound up doing that, but I think the speed issue was actually related to a calc field that the PC couldn't deal with. Seems to be considerably faster now. - Adrienne
