Show all titles in the database in a portal

I'm overlooking something. Years with filemaker (Version 3 my first) but never used portals. I'm not a programmer either but have done ok on my own. SSsssooo,

I sell books. Each record is a title. I want all titles to show in 1 field so I can copy paste or send in emails of current availble titles. I have tried my relationship but can't seem to get them in there....HELP!!

Hi guy, and welcome to the Forums!

Try this; Make a value list whose items are based on the field theRelationshipName::bookName. If the relationship and value list are constructed correctly, you should then be able to make a field use a popup list that shows all books.

Taking it one step further, make a calc text field equal to ValueListItems ( Status ( CurrentFileName ) , "valueListName" ), making sure it is unstored. This field will then display all the books' titles.

HTH,

Jerry

Thanks. The Value list worked.......but. I have duplicates of several titles because I sell for some other people too. I found that it did only show one title instead of duplicating it. But I have about 4 lines that show only the "by ..." as shown below. Any idea why???
