FM & MySQL via MyODBC Questions (real time updates

Hello, I'm brand new to FM Pro. (one hour brand new to the demo).

I have a test database running on MySQL that can be accessed from MS Access through ODBC. When updates are made in MS Access they appear immediately in MySQL. MS Access considers this "linked" or linking to the table instead of replicating the database to the local drive.

I've setup FM Pro using the same ODBC design. However, when I create the connection I'm prompted for a filename and the data is saved locally. I really don't know if/how updates are being sent back to the database on the MySQL server.

Is it possible to use FM Pro as a user interface to a remote MySQL database and have updates take place in realtime?

The goal here is to allow two different groups of people with different skillsets use the same data. If realtime changes from FM Pro are not possible when are changes sent back via ODBC? When the file is saved locally?

If there is any detailed documentation about this online, point me to it smile.gif

Thanks...

Did you ever get more detailed info regarding this?

Is the mysql data saved locally and the the entire mysql table uploaded on save in FM thereby overwriting the live remote table? I sure hope not frown.gif
