i have a filemaker database that runs on a windows-based webserver. i need to access the database via an ODBC connection and im having a very hard time finding answers.... i have filamker7 pro. will the pro version be good enough? do i need advanced or developer or server? where is the ODBC driver? what does the connection string look like if im not using a DSN? if anyone has experience with this i would greatly appreciate the help. thank you

The ODBC driver is located on the installation CD under the directory xDBC

There are some setup issues that are sometimes encountered when using Windows XP. It would take too long to explain them in detail here, but pages 600-603 of the book "Special Edition Using FileMaker 7" by Lane, Bowers. Love & Moyer explain it very well. If you don't have this book, I highly recommend spending the money for it.

My understanding is that the Pro/Developer version will work, but only with the local machine. If you needed multi-user/network kind of capability, you'll need Server Advanced.

I've set up Developer with a few ASP pages I created, and it works great. It seems slow for what seems like a simple enough task, so I beleive that the ODBC driver is to blame for that. I haven't set it up with Server Advanced yet, but I figure it'll be about the same performance.

I don't know of any way to use it besides setting up a DSN and making the connection string point to that. If there is another way, I'm all ears.
