Newbies brian@cu Posted December 20, 2004 Newbies Posted December 20, 2004 Greetings, I am new to setting up FM databases and server etc.. I'm Setting up a FM 7 server on a W2k3 server . I have set up a bunch of test databases to test the permissions etc... I set up the external authentification via AD, which wasn't working till I did the update, but now it is... at least sort of. I have followed the directions from the help and online files for setting up permissions on the databases. It seems to work as far as seeing the DB's that the users are supposed to see and have access to, but.... no matter what priviledge set I use..including new ones created, users all have full access to the databases. And ones that they don't see, if you type in the filename to open it, it will open and get access to the ones I have set the external authentification on, even if they are not supposed to have access to it. I have gone over them many times..keep reading the help files etc... but it all seems to be set up correctly...according to what information I have. Anyone have a clue what might be wrong. Thanks for any help. -Brian
Walter B Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 In FMP7 when you create a new database file, it automatically creates an admin account and set it to auto open under the admin account. Go into the File Options window under File menu and click off the Log in using box. That should fix your issue.
Newbies brian@cu Posted January 4, 2005 Author Newbies Posted January 4, 2005 Thanks, It sure did.... you saved me an additional few hours of head banging on desk!! :-) Is there something I missed in the help files?? is there a good place to find info like this for future reference? Thanks a million, -Brian
VFXdbGuy Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Unfortunately, FileMaker's Help covers the basics and no more. Finding information on their TechInfo system is also painful. This forum is the best place for obscure help...
