my fp7 files are now "non modifiable"??

Until yesterday we were running filemaker 7 server (demo version). We bought Server 7 advanced. We un-installed the demo version, got server 7 up and running. I moved over 30 database files to the required folder.

All but 3 files work fine. These three files now say "this action cannot be performed because this file is not modifiable" when you try to add/edit/administrate...anything!!!

I've tried recovering the file. I've tried creating a clone and re-importing. Still the same thing.

Help!!!! Does anyone know what to do to fix this??

many thanks....

Hi, GoAng. Have you checked the file properties on these to see if they have been set to read-only? I can't imagine why they would be (unless, perhaps, you copied them to a CD at some point -- some CD-writing utilities make all files read-only), but it's possible.

For FM7 Server on OS X, make sure the group 'fmsadmin' has Read & Write access. These permissions sometimes need to be reset after moving files around.

I'm having the same problem with our dbs. At first, we weren't able to add or delete records. Now that I've found this forum and found out about fixing the perms, that problem has been solved. But we still have the access problem -- with files, fields AND menu commands (while logged in with a supposed "full access" account). We are using FMS 7 and Dev 7 on OSX machines, using LDAP for authentication.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!
